October 17 - I had the opportunity to read some articles by IRIN about Somaliland this year. The latest news item about Ceelbardaale opened my eyes to several things - (Rival clans "re-arming" over Somaliland farm.) The most disturbing was the observation that IRIN is reporting in a more one sided manner.
As I read the lines, the tone was as extreme as one would expect from Jibril Abokor side of the story, but the other side (Reer Noor) was not given equal play. In a sense, the story telling in many venues has already been settled — at least for the Jibril Abokor. So, we have been left only to read the hosts side of view without giving equal time to the other.
The reporter failed to even contact the residents, people actually defending their land (with every dime that they have) and have lived there long before Ina Rage immigrated from Ethiopia. The reporter also failed to consider the obvious. This was an IRIN-HAATUF scam, based on the support of the takeover of Ceelbardaale, by the Jibril Abokor gangs headed by Dadqalato (slaughterer) Ina Raage and their greedy politicians.
What the one-sided coverage by IRIN, reveals is that the reporters are not spending any time in Ceelbardaale country where the facts can be found, neither conducting a research as to the origins of the land owners. They continue to just rewrite the stories as told by the useless, tribal minded, arrogant politicians and the cold blooded criminals who slaughtered innocent Samaroons for no apparent reason.
IRIN did not report a news item but poured on gasoline and fan the flames on Ceelbardaale land dispute. I was appalled to read the lines which made no sense at all. I wonder where IRIN reporters were when the innocent traveling Samaroons were slaughtered in the middle of no where. I wonder why the reporters had no guts to write a word about the criminal act (one of its kind on the whole continent of Africa) by Jibril Abokor gangs but have the courage and the support to write the one sided story of Ceelbardaale as told by the criminal claimants.
As has become clear, the so called Ceelbardaale takeovers - Criminal Ina Raage and gangs - supported by the greedy politicians are masters of deceit, misinformation and division and proved that IRIN news reporters sitting in easy chairs are easy to dupe. Hence shame to IRIN.....I sense you taking the road to tabloid news and being escorted by HAATUF...welcome to the world of garbage news... you will always be derided by Somalilanders as your partner HAATUF is....
The one sided information was given to IRIN by HAATUF and as we know there are persons of interest who are among the claimants of the Ceelbardaale land and who at the same time work for HAATUF. - a conflict of interest - These personalities were also as is known the supporters of the former dictator Siyad Bare and were among those who were given land illegally by the then dictator in exchange of what ever they were doing for the dictator.
IRIN was fed by HAATUF and the adage “garbage in garbage out “ came out of IRIN news item. The reporter was fed garbage and hence garbage was written. The reporter is a shame to the media standards. It was the sort of a news item that you’d expect to see in one of those trashy tabloids like HAATUF but obviously IRIN was easily deceived and fooled.
Let it be know -- HAATUF has a new sibling – IRIN and here I warn the readers about the new sibling trashy tabloid IRIN. Don't read it, trash it- both might harm your intelligence.
